Restaurant Week NH 2012 | Bedford Village Inn

Try Something New! is the theme of the very first annual New Hampshire Restaurant Week which I was soo excited to hear about. I love all of our local events like Restaurant Week Manchester in October, and Eats Week in April, but to have over 100+ wonderful New Hampshire restaurants pull together a Restaurant Week for the entire state–well, that is something really unique.

If you’re reading this today, the best news is that Restaurant Week is still going strong! It runs from May 18-25 so there is still plenty of time to choose a restaurant (or two, or three) to visit for lunch or dinner options!  Chances are excellent that there is a participating restaurant very near you!  I know, because I chose one in my figurative backyard.

I took the theme of Try Something New to heart and really wanted to experience something out of the ordinary, so for a truly extraordinary culinary adventure I chose to visit the Bedford Village Inn for dinner tonight.  Adventure it was! Flavors, ingredients, and techniques I have never eaten before were presented artistically and skillfully. I hardly felt worthy of such fancy food.

1st course: Compressed Watermelon Salad with Shaved Parmesan, Arugula, and Balsalmic Glaze
2nd course: Strozzapreti with Spicy Italian Sausage, Brocolini, Roasted Garlic
3rd course: Apple Crisp with Rum Raisin Ice Cream

In addition to this decadent 3-course gourmet meal, we were also served a basket of amazingly wonderful fresh breads with Vermont butter, and a amuse-bouche of  chilled strawberry soup. So delicious!

Eating and Exploring in New England & Beyond

One thing you’ll always see on the table at a NC barbecue spot is a bottle of @texaspetesauces. If you don’t know, this is not a product from Texas but a North Carolina product. My whole life, I have never really seen anybody put anything on their bbq other than Texas Pete. Fun fact about me: in the 4th grade in Kernersville NC we had a guy from the Texas Pete family come to speak to my 4th grade class. Must have been great marketing, because I never forgot it. Lexington Barbecue is not even on IG as far as I can find but they are world famous and I’m glad I got to stop by last week.
