The Boathouse | Kennebunkport Maine

Last week I took a little day trip to a place I have never been before: Kennebunkport, Maine! I love Maine but I don’t love all the people, which is what I found just one weekend after Labor Day. Still, I had a nice time and got to take some pictures and stuff which is what I enjoy. A nice lunch, good weather, pretty scenery, and a photogenic location all makes a great day for Erika!

Kennebunkport has some really cute restaurants, and I poked around the internet for a bit trying to choose the perfect spot. I had a few requirements: I wanted outdoor waterfront dining, a nice menu of great looking food that would make nice photos, and I needed some non-lobster options. I wish I liked lobster because I think lobster rolls and seafood dishes are just so photogenic, but I really do not.

The Boathouse Restaurant was my choice because it checked all of these boxes and more! It opened at 11:30 and I was there hoping to snag an outdoor seat by the water. I didn’t need to stress about it as I was the only one seated on the deck and I had the whole place to myself for a while!

The waterfront view on their deck is stunning. They actually have a few seating options, depending on the weather and your preference. They have indoor dining (and it’s gorgeous inside), covered outdoor seating, and fully outdoors with umbrellas.

First, I needed a cocktail! The Island Time is pineapple tequila, triple sec, lime, pineapple, and a Tajin rim. Very delicious and not too sweet as pineapple drinks often are. I liked it!

For my meal I chose the New England Clam Chowder and the Fish and Chips. Both were amazing! I honestly have never seen fish & chips look so beautiful. The presentation was gorgeous and I absolutely loved the size and shape of the 3 haddock pieces.

The clam chowder was also really delicious. It has a great flavor and texture, and the bacon pieces really added a nice salty bite.

Lastly, I ordered the Cruel Summer for my second cocktail (see photo above) and it was very cute and colorful. This one was the opposite of the sweet pineapple drink: this one was very tart! This one had tequila, Campari, grapefruit, lime, and that grapefruit was really prominent. I liked it, but if you prefer sweet drinks this one is not for you.

I absolutely loved my lunch at The Boathouse and I would definitely return next time I’m in Kennebunkport. I’m actually kind of obsessed with this restaurant because it fits all the things that I look for: amazing location and setting, gorgeous interior and exterior, delicious and beautiful food, and really nice service as well.
