I have to say that I’m thrilled to be able to do this post, for the sheer reason that I thought I had tragically deleted these photos months ago. Found them today, hooray! Imagine my surprise when I was snapping a few pics of my boys in the snow today, and flipped through the pics on the back of the camera and ended up in some gorgeous barbecue from a much warmer place. Paradise!
Back in October, I took a trip to the mountains of North Carolina to shoot my good friend Emily’s wedding, and my first night in town my mother and I ate at Trip Advisor’s #1 rated local restaurant: Smoky Mountain Barbecue. It was fantastic. The long lines out the door are a testament to how good this bbq is. What you see pictured here is a small barbecue plate, served with 3 hushpuppies and your choice of 2 sides: I had white slaw and potato salad. In the background you find the only condiment that a true North Carolinian needs on barbecue: Texas Pete hot sauce, conveniently placed on every table. And of course, iced tea.
Check out Brickstone Pizza & Pasta, if you’d like to know another good place to eat in West Jefferson.
