This week I enjoyed a lovely midweek dinner at Buckley’s Great Steaks in Merrimack, NH with my husband. It was, as always, a wonderful experience. The food is always so good, and the service is even better. We always feel so taken care of there. What was the occasion? Dave was nice enough to gift me a coupon book at Christmas for several of my favorite restaurants, and Buckley’s is certainly one of them.
Drinks and Appetizers
We enjoy hearing the specials for the day, and sometimes they are hit or miss for us. On this visit, I went with the cocktail special which was a Spicy Paloma with Smoked Salt Rim. There were muddled jalapenos in the bottom, and it was absolutely fantastic! Definitely a hit.
Another special that we tried was the Artichoke and Spinach dip. This one unfortunately was a miss for us, but it was still a nice warm appetizer to our meal. It was absolutely freezing outside so it was hard to pass up a hot cheesy dish.
I always have to get their wedge salad because it’s one of the best ones that I know of. It’s absolutely loaded and so crispy and creamy. It wasn’t as pretty as the one I got back in October, and I still think that photo is so much lovelier. I can’t wait for the days to get longer so that I still have some natural light for photos when dinner is at 5:30 or so.
Tavern Meatloaf
For my entrée once again I got the Tavern Meatloaf and it is always so good. Since I’m not big into mushrooms, I changed up the sauce a little with the Béarnaise, and wow! I loved the little gravy boat it came in. One thing I love about steakhouses is the incredible sauces and dressings that you can order. We all need more Béarnaise in our lives!
The vegetable of the day was maple glazed carrots which I was delighted with. Anything but green beans, please. I also got the gorgonzola bacon smashed potatoes that I love so much. They’re loaded! The meatloaf itself is really delicious, and it has that surprise Monterey Jack cheese in the middle that brings it all together.
I had some doubts about posting these photos because I so much prefer the beautiful natural light photos that I can get when the days aren’t so short. Dim nighttime restaurant lighting can be tough for getting great shots of the food. But still, it was such a lovely dinner that I thought sharing our experience is more important than avoiding photos. I hope you enjoyed reading about it, and I really hope that you will book your own dinner at Buckley’s Great Steaks soon!
