In addition to my wedding work, in the past month I’ve had four restaurant shoots which have been busy and fulfilling all at the same time. Of all of these I have to say that I’m most pleased with the outcome of this shoot for Firefly American Bistro and Bar in Manchester, NH.
I love working with them because they’re so easy-going. They don’t blink an eye when I ask them to turn off all the interior lights so that I don’t get color casts mixing with the natural light from the window. On this particular morning, it was very dark and rainy. I’m sure it looked very strange that I was shooting in such dim conditions. But it was actually gorgeous. Luckily I started at 9am before the restaurant opened at 11, so we were able to keep the lights off while I worked.
Chef David Becker brought out dish after dish of incredible beauty and skill. Each one was such a pleasure to photograph. To be honest, the Buttermilk Fried Porkchops looked absolutely irresistible to me, and smelled great too. They’re served over cheddar grits with peppercorn gravy and pork belly. Amazing.
The burgers and salads also looked incredible.
Brunch at Firefly American Bistro & Bar
Firefly is a great destination in downtown Manchester for a boozy brunch! They have amazing pancakes, avocado toast, shrimp and grits, and great drinks like bloody marys and mimosas.
The Bar is the Focal Point of Firefly
I absolutely love these images that I shot for Firefly. I felt at the time that these would be going straight to my portfolio and I was right. There are a few images in particular that I’m just obsessed with. If I saw these photos turn up in my feed on social media I would definitely stop scrolling for a closer look. I love how they gave me so many drinks to style the photos with. Almost each photo has at least a little peek of a drink in the background which makes it look like a fuller experience.
